Requests:
- Make sure your child has PE shoes every day at school- this is important for both our fun and our safety.
- Make sure your child brings warm gear and rain gear to school every day- we are committed to making time for being outside daily throughout the winter- whether it is PE, walks for biology lessons, outdoor school, garden groups, or lunch/recess.
Weekly Update:
Gosh how time flies! It is already the second week in November. This means that conferences are just around the corner, and we are wrapping up our third three week learning journal cycle! We will be creating a one week learning journal for next week, setting goals and reflecting before conferences. This mini LJ will give us something to look at during conferences, instead of having our learning journal interrupted by Thanksgiving break.
Last Thursday, we paused our regular scheduled lessons for a day of discussion based and game based lessons. This first day went well, but we are continuing to focus on this. We know good discussion skills, problem solving skills, team work take practice- so that is going to continue to be our focus throughout November through our lessons and academic plans. We are so fortunate to have a large community in our class- so each child has more people to teach, and to learn from, Please continue to discuss these community building topics with your child:
- Who did you help today?
- Did you tell anyone “thank you?” What for?
- What was the hardest part of the code to follow today?
- Who inspired you today? What did they do?
- Can you tell me an example of kindness you saw/showed? Was there an example of unkindness? How did you respond?
- Did you have any nice connections with your classmates or teachers?
- Now that you’re home, is there anything you’d love to brag about?
Gratitude Corner:
- Thank you again to Shannon and Michelle for building Luna’s cage.
- Thank you to Colton’s family for contributing to Luna’s cage with another heater. She looks chipper again in her new mansion!
